Bathroom Space Savers – 5 Easy Ways to Make More Space

The smallest spaces in our homes can often get shortchanged. If you have a small bathroom, banish this theory and give it the style it deserves. Here are 5 clever ways to save space in a small bathroom:

Bathroom Space Savers Tip #1 – Compartmentalize

Cabinet spaces are highly desirable property in a small bathroom. Martha Stewart recommends installing cabinets that offer separate spaces – preferably one space per person who uses the bathroom. Lazy Susans are also a great way to make accessing toiletries simple. We’ve used recently these techniques in both bathrooms and kitchens.

Bathroom Space Savers Tip #2 – Think Vertically

The walls and doors in most bathrooms are underutilized. Make towels and washcloths accessible to bathers by installing a hotel-style multi-tiered rack on the wall next to the tub. You should also be sure to have plenty of places to hang wet towels – especially if your bathroom is high traffic. Add towel bars to the back of the bathroom door instead of a single hook.

Bathroom Space Savers Tip #3 – Use the Corners

Corners can often get overlooked when decorating a bathroom. Try a shelving unit or cabinet that’s specifically designed for corners to get the most out of this unused space. These units can be used to store any number of things, including medications, linens and paper products. Suite 101 recommends adding decorative touches to avoid making your small bathroom feel like a storage closet. Try rolling up guest towels and placing them in a decorative basket or bin. Or place a few simple accessories, such as a small vase or framed photo, on the unit.

Bathroom Space Savers Tip #4 – Add More Mirrors

Most every bathroom has at least one mirror, but adding additional decorative mirrors can make the space feel larger.

Bathroom Space Savers Tip #5 – Less is More

One of the easiest ways to make more space in your bathroom is to consolidate. Ace of Space, Tammy Strobel says, “Only keep what you use everyday in your bathroom. For example, store extra towels, toilet paper, and beauty supplies in another area of your home.” By storing only what you need in your bathroom, you can create more space.
